Started by adding black circles to a white canvas in Photoshop.
Created a new material in Cinema4d and added the Photoshop file as an alpha.
Applied the material to a cube.
Experimented with the mograph cloner tool, and added a light.
Unticked 'Soft' and 'Image Alpha' in the material window, and repositioned the light.
Ended up with this cool thing.
