Blog design, Knight drawing

Decided to document the steps from my pencil drawing to my digital version:

Drew on cartridge paper and took photo in low light environment. To the end result I think this creates a sort of statuesque look.

Firstly I went over the lines with a black hard, round brush set to 8px and 10% opacity.

Using the same brush, but white I added highlights.

I painted around the shape of the knight with a light grey, 100% opacity brush. I then set

the blending mode to pin light. Although this takes away some of the detail, I think the more drowned out look is more suitable for a background.

Then I selected the outline and cut the background.
