Summer holidays

I've been quite lazy over the summer holidays, but have produced several pieces.

A friend of a friend is making an interactive novel/game and wanted to know if I could do some artwork for it. Having never worked in a manga style before I wanted to give it a go before deciding. This is my result. I'm not sure if it's any good, I know nothing about manga. It also took me 4 days to complete, which seems far too much for the resulting image. With college 6 days away, I quickly realised I wouldn't have time to dedicate to this project. It was a useful experience, communicating with a potential employer via email in a professional manner. Plus I have this drawing for my portfolio, that I otherwise never would have done. And I'll be more confident and able to pursue such a style if I should choose to in the future.

I've uploaded two slightly different versions of this painting. I realised it would take a lot of work to get the bones looking semi-good, and didn't feel the required detail necessary for a background. Plus I was desperate for a new desktop background so wanted to speed up the process. Thus I decided to add a tilt-shift effect to the background, to blur the bones and conveniently add more depth to the image. However, I really like how the bones dig into the earth on the non tilt-shift image, so maybe I'll revisit it one day. Anyhow, I feel this is the best and most detailed painting I've done. I've been working on a back story to maybe make into a comic/graphic novel one day. I might upload some of my ideas in a later post.

This was something I started months and months ago, but decided to finish for a competition located here: http://blog.playfire.com/2014/07/75-years-of-batman-nemesis-competition.html

I had to come up with quite an outlandish story to make him fit into Batmans universe.

The writing style hardly fits with the image of a gruff Scotsman but heyho.
